Tour Details

On this tour, we will spend first three nights in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet, where we will explore sites of religious and historic significance in the city, including the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery. This part of the trip is to ensure gradual acclimatization to the altitude in the subsequent legs of the trip.

We will then set out on the road of Tibet to visit some of the marvellous landscapes and stunning sites in the southwest and central Tibet. For example, the north-facing Mt. Everest (alt. 8848m), the Mt. Shisha Pangma (alt.8012m), the Yamdrok Lake, the Karo La Glacier, and the Pelkhor Chode Monastery in Gyantse, which has one of the best old towns in central Tibet. Next, you will go to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city and home to the largest Buddhist monastery of Tashi Lhunpo. After Shigatse, the tour trajectory will take you through some of the high passes, including the Gyatso La, which offers sweeping views of the world’s highest mountain range, and the north-facing Everest Base Camp.

The trekking trip to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar that is incorporated in this package provides a great combination of tranquillity, sightseeing, and physical challenge. We will accomplish 52 kilometres over three full days, trekking through some of the most amazing terrains, with altitude ranging from 4400m to 5200m. For the devout pilgrims, a visit to Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar forms the ultimate realization of their spiritual pursuit. For the trekking-lovers, the journey offers a deep sensation of rugged beauty, remoteness, and solitude.

Finally, after visiting Mt. Everest, we will embark on the extended journey toward Gyirong border which will include overland travel through some of the marvellous natural landscapes.
