Tour Details

On this tour, we will spend two nights in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet, where we will explore sites of religious and historic significance in the city, including the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple.

We will embark our extended journey to Lhoka region the cradle of the Tibetan civilization–where you will have an opportunity to witness the first palace –Yumbu Lhakang -and the first Buddhist monastery – Samye Monastery, as well as what is considered to be the stretch of the earliest agricultural farmland in the Tibetan civilization.

To ensure gradual acclimatization to the altitude in the subsequent legs of the trip for Mt. Kailash trekking. We will visit Chimphu Nunnery and Hermitage caves located above Samye Monastery about 16km to the northeast. There we can hike up to Chimphu about 3 hours which is obviously the good opportunity for an altitude acclimatization walk. From Chimphu you can enjoy a beautiful sunset view along the Yurlung Tsangpo River.

Then, you will be travelling to the central west part of Tibet. Along with this route, you will be amazed at a number of gorgeous sights. We will stop by the Yamdrok Lake and the Karo La Glacier, to sink in with their tranquillity and majesty, before we hit and explore around Gyantse. Making most of our time in Shigatse, we will pay a visit to Tashi Lhunpo monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in the Tsang province or the west-central Tibet. The north-facing Mt. Everest (alt. 8848m), the Mt. Shisha Pangma (alt.8012m).

The trekking trip to Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar that is incorporated in this package provides a great combination of tranquillity, sightseeing and physical challenge. We will accomplish 52 kilometres over three full days, trekking through some of the most amazing terrains, with altitude ranging from 4400m to 5200m. For the devout pilgrims, a visit to Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar forms the ultimate realization of their spiritual pursuit. For the trekking-lovers, the journey offers a deep sensation of rugged beauty, remoteness and solitude. Along with this journey, we will be also exploring around the ruins of the Guge Kingdom considered to be the highest of the ancient kingdom located on the ridge of the Roof of the World.
