The following are the latest Tibet Travel Updates 2025 on the Tibet travel permit process officially announced by the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Bureau.

China is Open for international Traveler from Jan 8th.

With ease of restriction of COVID pandemic,  China announce the opening of its border from 8th Jan 2023 for all the international travel. Thought Tibet tourism bureau has yet to announce, Tibet will soon follow suit and open up for international travelers.

Tibet is open for ex-pat living in China (Oct 2021)

Entire Tibet is open for all the ex-pats living in China. Yet there is an additional document required to submit on Tibet travel permit application. 

1. Covid 19 test report
2. QR Code
3. Your employment letter should clearly state, you have been staying in domestic jurisdiction within China continuously for the last 3months. 

Above are the additional documentation required for your Tibet travel permit applications.

Regular Document to submit 

1. Passport
2. Visa 
3. Letter from your employer (stating your enrollment with them and your name and passport details)

Tibet is Close for all international travelers from Feb 2020 until further notice (Feb 2020)
