Tsurphu Monastery – Yangpachen Hotspring Trek is an attractive tour package. Good to Know about 9 Days Tsurphu Monastery – Yangpachen Hotspring Trek

Dates & Costs

The trekking journey from  Tsurphu Monastery to Yangbachen Hot Spring can be done anytime from mid-April to September. We can arrange this journey for groups of two to ten people. Discount available for groups of 3 or more. For a specific price, please contact us at losal@pvy.koc.mybluehost.me.

Travel Gear:

Upon joining, each participant will be sent a list of required and recommended gear for this journey that they will be responsible for. 

Accommodation

: In Lhasa, you will be staying in a comfortable and pleasant boutique or 3-star Tibetan-owned hotels. On the trekking route, you spend the nights in tents. Toilets are usually outside and are not always as hygienic.

Eligibility:

Participants must be in good health and physically fit to be able to spend each day walking around towns, villages, and monasteries. Most of this tour will take place in mountainous terrain between 3600 meters and 5200 meters (11,800 feet to 17,000 feet) above sea level. The trek from Tsurphu Monastery to Yangbachen Hotspring is beautiful but is quite demanding. You will spend 3 nights in Lhasa for altitude acclimatization before going above 3600 meters. Trekking and ascent will be slow and gradual, and every care will be taken to make the journey safe and well attended to.

Tibet Travel Permit:

This is the primary document required in order to visit Tibet after the Passport and Chinese Visa. The permit can only be applied at the Tibet Tourism Bureau, Only a travel agency registered with the Bureau can apply it for. We can make your permit and we will need 25 days for the entire process of the permit.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Lhasa Elevation 3590 meters

  • AM: Arrive in Lhasa & Acclimatization
  • PM: Self-paced exploration around the Barkhor street.

Day 2Around Lhasa Elevation 3590 meters

  • Explore the“spiritual heart” of Lhasa city, the Jokhang temple, and the surrounding old quarters
  • Explore Tsamkhung Nunnery, one of the largest nunneries in the Lhasa area
  • Visit Sera Monastery, one of the “Great Three” Buddhist monasteries noted for their Buddhist dialectic debate session usually held in the afternoons

Day 3In and Around Lhasa Elevation 3590 meters

  • Visit the Potala Palace, the Buddhist iconic building and a World Heritage Site
  • Explore Ramoche Temple, considered to be the sister temple to the Jokhang temple
  • Continue to explore old quarters of the town

Day 4Lhasa – Tsurphu Monastery, Distance   79 kilometres Elevation 4500 meters

  • Leave Lhasa and drive to Tsurphu Monastery – circa. 2-hour drive
  • Explore around the monastery
  • Overnight stop at a local guesthouse in Tsurphu Monastery.

Day 5Tsurphu Monastery to Leten    Trek distance: 11 kilometres Elevation 5090 meters

  • Stage 1 of trekking commences:
  • Head west and up the valley, following the Kora trail.
  • Transit through gorges and green valleys
  • Reach the nomadic settlement of Leten
  • Overnight camping stop

Day 6Leten – Bartso   Trek distance: 11 kilometres Elevation 5390 meters

  • Stage 2 of trekking commences:
  • Continue to walk up the terrain
  • Cross overpass called Damchen Nyingtri, followed by O-Lha
  • Keep on, follow the trails through some steep gorges and open valleys
  • Cross the Lasar La and descend into the Yangpachen valley
  • Reach Bartso, a nomadic village used for summer camping
  • Overnight camping stop Bartso

Day 7Bartso – Dorje Ling Nunnery   Trek distance: 15 kilometres Elevation 5450 meters

  • Stage 3 of trekking commences:
  • Leave Bartso and head northwest, then westward
  • Keep on, follow the trails through some steep gorges and open valleys
  • Reach Dorje Ling Nunnery – a must-transit through spot on the trek route
  • Overnight camping stop Dorje Ling Nunnery

Day 8Dorje Ling Nunnery – Yangbachen Monastery –Hotrping – Lhasa Distance: 14kms Elevation

  • Leave Dorje Ling Nunnery and head to Yangbachen Monastery
  • Visit and explore around the Yangbachen Monastery, which is an old Kagyupa sect monastery
  • Leave Yangbachen Monastery, drive to Yangbachen hot springs
  • Soak in after the long day or
  • Return to Lhasa, rest and freshen up

Day 9Tour concludes and Depart Lhasa

  • Transfer to Lhasa airport or airport or train station,
  • Depart Lhasa
