Tour Details

You will begin this 18-day overland expedition tour starting from Tibet and all the way to Xinjiang Kashgar, one of the westernmost cities of China, near the border with Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan. This proposed overland tour is going to be one of the greatest Himalayas adventures because throughout the tour you will have traveled almost the entire length of the Himalayas and Karakorum mountain ranges, which will ensure you that you have plenty of time at your own disposal to experience the Tibetan and Muslim culture and customs.

On this tour, we will spend the first 2 nights in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet, where we will explore sites of religious and historic significance in the city, including the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.  This part of the trip arrangement is to ensure gradual acclimatization to the altitude in the subsequent legs of the trip.

After Lhasa exploration, we will travel through some of the marvellous landscapes and stunning sites in the southwest and central Tibet. For example, the north-facing Mt. Everest (alt. 8848m), the Mt. Shisha Pangma (alt.8012m), the Yamdrok Lake, the Karo La Glacier, and the Pelkhor Chode Monastery in Gyantse. Next, we will go to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city and home to the largest Buddhist monastery of Tashi Lhunpo. After Shigatse, we will cross several high passes, including the Gyatso La, which offers a sweeping view of the world’s highest mountain range – the Himalaya range.

Then, we will embark on the extended journey toward the trekking trip to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar that is incorporated in this package provides a great combination of tranquillity, sightseeing and physical challenge. We will accomplish 52 kilometres over three full days, trekking through some of the most amazing terrains, with altitude ranging from 4400m to 5200m. For the devout pilgrims, a visit to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar forms the ultimate realization of their spiritual pursuit. For the trekking-lovers, the journey offers a deep sensation of rugged beauty, remoteness and solitude. Along with this journey, we will be also exploring the Guge Kingdom, Pangong Lake, Thonling monastery and Rutog rock paintings.

After touring around Ngari prefecture (also Ali) is known as the “roof of the roof of the world”. We will then, set out on the road to Kashgar in Xinjiang province. By there, we will be visiting the historical cities along the Silk Road in Southern Xinjiang, such as the Apak Hoja Tomb, the popular Uyghur Bazaar/ Market, Id Kah Mosque in Kashgar.
